Sir Charles Williams was disgusted. He was attending the final of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup and was dismayed to see that not a single player in the final hailed from England. To Sir Charles, an accomplished polo player in his own right, this was simply unacceptable. And thus in 2006 the brainchild of the Apes Hill Club Barbados polo team was born.
By 2008, the Apes Hill Club Barbados team, with all-English players, prevailed in overtime at the prestigious Vivari Queen’s Cup and the team was honored to receive the trophy from Her Majesty The Queen.
The success continued in 2009, as the Apes Hill Club team added The Harcourt Development’s Queen’s Cup to the mantle. This major trophy represented the culmination of Sir Charles dream, as he warmly received the cup, again from Her Majesty The Queen.

If you love world class polo, Apes Hill Club is the place to find it. The Waterhall Polo Centre is one of the finest facilities in the world. Guests and owners can watch world class polo, learn to play, or simply enjoy horseback riding. Sir Charles and his family are often found there, ready to provide you the ultimate challenge.
